TYB employees were invited to nominate, and then vote for, their favourite charity to receive a £1,000 donation. Julia’s House was the overwhelming choice.
Jenni Wilkinson, TYB’s Head of Marketing, said: “Not all our people have access to the canteen and there were complaints from a number who felt they had missed out in 2006.
“After much thought we decided that, instead of repeating the meal this Christmas, a fairer gesture would be to donate £1,000 to charity.
“The decision to support Julia’s House is typical of our staff’s unselfish support for good causes.”
Gavin Fisher, Deputy Chief Executive of Julia’s House, said: “We are delighted that staff at Transdev Yellow Buses chose to support Julia’s House.
“It is a great boost to us and gets our fundraising efforts for 2008 off to an excellent start.”
Julia’s House is a registered charity that cares for life-limited and life-threatened children throughout Dorset, the majority of whom are not expected to live into adulthood. Its Corfe Mullen hospice in Dorset was officially opened in 2006.
Julia’s House raised more than £1.4 million in 2007 with virtually all the money coming from public donations.
