Transdev Yellow Buses to place poppies on fleet

Poppy Day 2007TRANSDEV Yellow Buses (TYB) is to display poppies on its 103-strong fleet as a mark of respect for Britain’s war heroes.

Bob Wheatley, 86, who saw service in the Royal Navy during the Second Wold War, joined with Gary Corrie, TYB’s Engineering Director, to fix a poppy to the front of a bus at the company’s Bournemouth headquarters.

Mr Wheatley is the local Poppy Appeal organiser for the Royal British Legion in the Castlepoint and Yeomans Way area of Bournemouth which includes TYB’s depot.
For the last 33 years he has also been Chairman and Standard Bearer of Winton and Moordown Royal British Legion and the Secretary and Welfare Officer for the legion in Boscombe.

TYB’s drivers will also be asked to observe the two minute silence on Armistice Day, Sunday November 11, at 11am.
Buses which are on the road will stop at the nearest request stop – or safe parking area – and turn off their engines for the silent tribute.

Jenni Wilkinson, TYB’s Communications and Marketing Manager, said: “We are proud to show our support for the Poppy Appeal.
“Displaying poppies on our bus fleet is our humble contribution to those who put their lives on the line for our country.”
