STAFF at Transdev Yellow Buses (TYB) have said a fond farewell to two of their most
Dave, who celebrates his 65th birthday on September 24, joined TYB in 1996 after a varied career which included running the Household Cavalry’s officers’ mess at Combermere Barracks, Windsor.
He started working for TYB as a driver before taking up the new post of driving instructor in 1999. Since then he has been responsible for successfully training hundreds of drivers.
“I’ve loved the job, loved the challenge and still get a thrill at getting people through their test,” said Dave.
‘Rocket’ Ron joined TYB in 1988, earning his nickname for delivering his passengers safely to their destination but not necessarily at the greatest of speed.
“I get them there eventually but I admit that I’m not one of the world’s fastest drivers,” laughed Ron who turned 65 on September 19.
Derek Lott, TYB’s Managing Director, described Dave and Ron as ‘great characters’ who would be much missed by colleagues and passengers.
“They have given the company, and the travelling public, tremendous service and we wish them a well-deserved long and happy retirement,” he said.
