Summer Changes from 7th April 2019
We have registered the routes and services and they launch on Sunday 7th April 2019, just in time for the Easter School Holidays. We will be making various announcements about these routes including launches across the conurbation and surrounding areas over the next few weeks.
Generally, most of the network will remain as it is today, but with some notable enhancements.
Some of the key elements include the following:
- Route 1a is extended from Sainsburys at Somerford to Highcliffe and New Milton. Our buses will operate direct every hour along Lymington Road, providing a new direct link for Highcliffe residents to Sainsburys and Stewarts Garden Centre. In New Milton the route will provide a regular link to the Tesco store throughout the day Monday to Saturday. Customers can also use the 1a to provide links to Bournemouth and Boscombe.
- Route 6 is extended from Bearwood to Wimborne via Magna Road and Merley. This will run every 30 minutes Monday to Saturday from around 0700 until 1900. This extended route will provide new links to the University and a quicker way into Bournemouth from Wimborne.
- Route 7 will be transformed into ‘Busters Beach Bus’ this summer, running hourly from Sandbanks to Boscombe via Branksome Chine, Alum Chine, Westbourne, Eastcliffe and Boscombe Pier from Sunday 7th April just in time for the Easter School Holidays. The service ramps up further from late spring bank holiday weekend (25th May) and will run every 30 minutes until September, when it will then drop back to every hour.
Single and return fares will still be charged on this service for adults, children and groups and it also remains part of the concessionary scheme. This means that customers holding a Connect or Dorset Concession card can use the Open Top Busters Beach Bus for free, as can visitors to the area from Bristol to Birmingham with concession cards. A great day out for free! There will however be a different priced all day ticket which will be valid on this, and our other routes to Wimborne and New Milton. More details about this will follow.
We have also made some other improvements to the network which we hope will enhance your enjoyment of travelling with Yellow Buses. This summer we will certainly have some fun and interesting places to visit including a nice day out to Christchurch visiting the Priory, shops and Gardens, exploring historic Wimborne, travelling to the edge of the New Forest in New Milton or visiting new beaches at Highcliffe, Branksome or Sandbanks.
