Mark Rushworth from National Express, David Squire, MD of Yellow Buses, Phil Pannell, Service Delivery Director of Yellow Buses, Alan Shaw from National Express and Mike Collins, Yellow Buses’ coaching and training manager.

Yellow Buses has notched up a hat-trick of top awards for its engineering department.

It won the High Achiever award and the prestigious Golden Spanner award – which were both won for its work looking after National Express coaches. It is the second year in a row it has been presented with the High Achiever Award which means it has delivered an extremely high standard of service for 12 months.

The Golden Spanner was awarded for supplying vehicles to a high standard that are both clean and presentable and have very few mechanical issues. Yellow Buses’ third major award is the ‘Earned Recognition’ accreditation for its success in achieving the required high levels of operator compliance to be accepted into a trial by the Driver and Vehicles Standards Agency. This tests standards and maintenance levels and Yellow Buses is one of the very first bus operators to receive this recognition.

Phil Pannell, Service Delivery Director, said: “These three awards are testament to the skill and professionalism of our engineers and mechanics.

“Keeping a large fleet on the road is a difficult job, but the staff here are very experienced.

“Not only do they take great pride in the mechanical elements of the job, but also take care of the vehicles’ appearance, both inside and out.

“We are particularly pleased to have been presented with these awards as they are difficult to win.

“We’ve never achieved the Golden Spanner award before and the High Achiever we’ve now been awarded two years in a row, which shows that are standards are consistently high.

“We were also pleased to receive the DVSA’s ‘Earned Recognition’ accreditation, which has only just been introduced.

“The team here is very deserving of the awards and we’ll aim to keep our standards at the highest level.”

National Express Coach Service Delivery Director Ed Rickard said: “We are delighted to award Yellow Buses with the Golden Spanner and High Achiever awards for their excellent performance.

“As a business we are committed to delivering excellence for our customers, which means upholding stringent standards and testing including among our partner operators and Yellow Buses have delivered.”
