Yellows to coach dancers
Some of the finest dance companies in the country are quick-stepping to Bournemouth and Poole - including stars who have appeared on TV’s Strictly Come Dancing.
Pavilion Dance South West (PDSW) is powering the UK Dance Showcase, which will see performances by 43 dance companies.
They will be demonstrating their talents to hundreds of promoters and programmers.
Yellow Buses has partnered with PDSW to transport the showcase delegates between venues.
The company’s Yellow Coaches will be cha-cha-chugging between the Pavilion in Bournemouth and the Lighthouse in Poole; the places where most performances will take place.
But it is not just the industry’s influencers who will be able to watch the shows – tickets are on sale to the public for acts at the Lighthouse.
The UK Dance Showcase which takes place between 16 – 19 May, is part of Surf The Wave, a ground breaking project aiming to provoke a step change in the way dance is showcased and toured in the UK.
It includes a free outdoor dance programme across Bournemouth on the Saturday – in some unusual locations.
Lucy White, Surf The Wave Marketing Manager, said: “Programmers and promoters from across the whole industry – including those from museums, festivals as well as popular venues – will be attending to see the dance companies perform.
“They will then be in a position to book the acts they like for their venues. It is a wonderful opportunity for the companies to be seen and for the programmers to see high quality dance work.
“And the public are also invited to book tickets to see some of the outstanding performances on offer at the Lighthouse.”
Fiona Harwood from Yellow Buses said: “We are known for supporting the arts and of course have a poetry bus in service.
“We have worked with PDSW before and are pleased to be supporting the UK Dance Showcase and helping those important promoters and programmes get between the venues.”
Tickets are available for the following:
Candoco / Scottish Dance Theatre
Short Dance Works
