Yellows score high on Green Road

1 month ago Mon 2nd Mar 2020

More than 40 of Yellow Buses’ drivers have achieved ‘Fleet Elite’ status and four have earned ‘Master’ status after their driving was monitored by clever technology.

The GreenRoad Safety & Fleet Management platform was introduced in 2016 to enhance Bournemouth-based Yellows’ emissions profile and improve safety.

Results show the company exceeded its fuel efficiency goals and reduced its already-low accident rate by an additional 11 per cent in the last year – or an astonishing 23 per cent in the last two years.

The platform also provides accurate, real-time tracking, enabling management to stay on top of its schedule and customer commitments.

Installed on all Yellow Buses vehicles, the GreenRoad platform uses a simple system to give drivers instant feedback about their driving manoeuvres.

It encourages smoother, safer, and more fuel-efficient driving.

Virtually all Yellows’ drivers are now classed as ‘green’ and 42 achieved Fleet Elite status, meaning that they averaged five or fewer safety faults per 10 hours of driving for the entire calendar year.

Four drivers were deemed ‘Master Elite’, an even higher standard gained after four years of solid improvement.

Phil Pannell, Yellow Buses’ service delivery director, said: “These are terrific results.

“As a company that is serious about customer service and environmental responsibility, we are proud of the results that GreenRoad has helped us achieve.

“The real-time coaching has helped our drivers reach a world-class level of safety.

“The platform fosters friendly competition to see who can achieve the best safety score, making it natural for everyone to continually improve their driving.

“From a management level, we monitor safety scores and incident reports on a weekly basis and offer extra mentoring to drivers who need our support.

“By combining GreenRoad’s technology with management commitment, recognition and training, we have achieved superb results, and we intend to continue to improve in the future.”

Richard Hemming, GreenRoad’s VP of Customer Success, said: “We congratulate Yellow Buses and their drivers on their outstanding record, a testament to their deep commitment to the safety and comfort of their passengers.

“We are proud that our platform helps operators throughout the world achieve higher and higher standards of safety and environmental responsibility.”
